The study room is a space that should reflect a person’s character and individuality. It should be organized, furnished and decorated in a way that allows the user to feel comfortable and productive and shouldn’t include distractions. However, this doesn’t mean it has to be austere and boring.
The main attributes of the great study room are: comfortable desk and chair, preferrably located near the window and a light fixture. The usual layout of the study room always includes some cabinets or shelves for storing your documents. Think of all the needed appliances and items that you need: printer, computer, other electronics and make them reachable, perhaps by placing them on your desk. In a small room, it’s so important to keep things clutter free. Here, built-in bookshelves ensure the floor is kept clear. As a result the room feels contemporary and spacious.
Once you have figured out the layout and positions of the furniture and items, consider the appropriate decorations. Study room, as any personal room, should reflect your individuality, but not of course scream of it, as it would disctract your studies.
Think of the colors that inspire you to work, something bright and vibrant, but not too bright. Try not to create a chaos of your personal belonging, and keep order in your study room. The most important of course is creating a comfort zone for learning, discovering, working and growing. Put little pots of greenery, or little pillows on your sofa: anything that would add comfort and please your aestheticaylly.
Another great way to use a wall, especially one with a difficult shape, is by building a custom bookcase. It can cover the entire wall and can be the main storage element in the room. This type of design suits those with large book collections.
